This
17 acre lake was leased by CAA in 1984. It has an irregular shore
line, giving good natural protection from wind. Depths vary from 3
to over 20 feet, giving good sport in all weather conditions. Since
opening in the 1984/85 season it has developed into an excellent
fishery for the pleasure angler. 1997, 1998 and 1999 have seen
excellent sport with bags over 200 lb. regularly reported. A 5 hour
match record weight of 149 lb. was recorded in 1999 and 195lb in
2000. Carp are the predominant fish, with specimens of 22+ lb. being
caught on a variety of baits. There are also large shoals of Roach
to 2 lb., Bream to 4lb. and Rudd. Tench to 7 lb., showed well in
2001. A popular and prolific fishery. During the winter of 2000/01
the water level increased by 8ft making a lot of swims unfishable.
We intend to recreate some swims prior to the 2002 season.

Broads Green Lake
(adjacent to Tufnell)
This
¾ acre lake holds a very large head of Carp, including Crucians. The
areas of overhanging trees produce well in the warmer months with
floating crust and dog biscuits a popular bait. A floating maggot
feeder will also attract fish from the surface. Other species
including Rudd, Roach, Perch, and Gudgeon make this another popular
venue. The water on the roadside bank is 20ft (6m) deep in places.

Blunts Mere (2.7 acres)
Ulting
The
most established of the three lakes set in the countryside at Ulting
with fairly dense undergrowth surrounding parts of the bank. This is
regularly cut back on working parties in order to reduce the number
of snags. When the lake is full, average depth is 7 feet, with
shallower parts containing weed beds, principally of milfoil. This
fishery continues to be popular with members and recent bailiff
reports show Carp to 27 lb, Tench to 6 lb, and excellent Rudd to 4
lb, Perch to 4lb, and Crucians to 1 lb.. All methods produce and conventional
baits should not be forgotten. Priority swims close to car park for
disabled anglers. Night fishing available with valid permit. Toilet
on site. Open for fishing from 1st May.
TOP
Less
growth around the edges than Blunts Mere. Average depth is 9-10
feet, with numerous weed beds. This water has been developed into a
Carp lake and recent bailiff reports indicate the fishing being
excellent with plenty of Carp being caught in the 7-15 lb. range.
Largest recently reported fish was over 26 lb.. The water also
contains a prime head of Rudd and specimens of 1 lb. regularly
caught. Anglers on this venue must use line
with a minimum breaking strain of 6 lb. Night fishing available with
valid permit. Open for fishing from 1st May..

An
attractive environmental setting greets the angler as he arrives at
the car park located at the top of a track leading down to this
excellent fishery. Parking space for disabled anglers (max. 4 cars)
has been made available at the bottom of the track. Average depth is
10 feet (max. 20 feet). This lake is stocked with Rudd, Roach,
Bream, Tench, Carp and Perch. Pike are also showing with confirmed
reports of these predators being caught in excess of 25 lb.,
although the general size being 3-12 lb. Wick Mere has shown a
tremendous improvement over the past few seasons and Bream
(2lb.-5lb.) show particularly well during the summer months. Tench
show less well although there is a large stock of them between
2lb.-6lb.. Carp in excellent condition and strength put in a good
appearance with fish caught ranging from 5lb. to 20lb. Roach and
skimmers making a come back with occasional specimen Roach
approaching 2lb being caught. Night fishing on trial during 2002-3
season available with valid permit. Open for fishing from 1st May.

Owned by the
Association, the fishery is situated in 10 acres comprising 3 lakes,
6½, 1½ and ¼ acre plus 2 stock ponds (which are not fished). Main
Lake and Back Lake restocked in 1996 and 1997 with 20,000 mixed
species. With plenty of natural food and weed cover during the
summer months fish are showing rapid growth. Carp stocked at
10-12lb. are now 25-30+ lb. Night fishing available with valid
permit.
Main Lake (6½ acres)
Tench 4lb, Bream 4lb, Perch 2lb, Carp 30lb, Pike 18lb. Large shoals
of Rudd and Roach plus some large Eels .
Back Lake (1½ acres)
Common and Mirror Carp to double figures. Good Crucian Carp and
quality Roach and Perch (4lb).
Small Lake (¾ acre) Renee's Pool
Renamed in 2001 in memory of Irene Lewis. This was restocked during
1997 with Tench, Rudd, Crucian Carp. Quite a weedy lake, but
clearing a small area can produce a good days sport.

Chelmsford Angling Association now have the fishing rights along
with the M.A.S for the entire length of the canal from the Gas

The club has partnered up with the Maldon Angling Society to obtain
the lease for this prolific stretch of water. Day tickets will be
available from selected tackle shops, also from bailiffs on easy

Chub and roach fishing with the occasional Carp and Trout. Ulting
Church , for most species including good Tench and Perch. Hoe Mill

Danbury Trout Fisheries
Fly fishing only is available at
a 1½ acre reservoir near Danbury, in beautiful wooded surroundings.
The fishery is stocked regularly throughout the season (1st April to
29th October) with Trout 12 oz to 2lb., some growing on to over 4lb.
Trout Section members are encouraged to help in the running of the
fishery. An annual meeting of members is held and several working
parties organised during the close season. In recent years six
fishing platforms have been installed and a large chalet built, the
cost of which was generously provided by our landlord, Mrs J Tuker.
Very successful annual social events include an organised coach
outing to an alternative trout fishery and a barbecue at our fishery
for members and their family and friends. Angling is restricted to a
maximum of 50 permit holders per season at an additional charge.
